Engineer, Cement

About the Role
This role involves assessing quality assurance and quality control of cement, cement additives, acid, and acid additives to ensure they meet oilfield standards. You will serve as a technical expert, providing on-site support and ensuring compliance with engineering plans, QA/QC guidelines, and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify, analyze, and resolve operational and technical cementing issues.
• Provide on-site technical support for critical cementing jobs, ensuring that engineering plans, procedures, specifications, and QA/QC guidelines are applied. Check cementing equipment and materials, collaborating closely with on-site service company personnel to meet job performance and well integrity requirements.
• Implement best practices, including lab testing procedures and conditions, updating the cementing manual accordingly.
• Prepare the annual cementing budget, inclusive of cement services, additives, and contract services, while assessing service companies’ bids and coordinating product testing for compliance with approved standards.
• Forecast annual cementing material requirements and ensure readiness of adequate supplies for operational needs.
• Prepare cementing material requirements and coordinate material transfers.
• Monitor contractor compliance with contractual obligations, specifically HSE and quality compliance, and analyze service company performance.
• Identify areas for performance improvement and assist in evaluating tenders for cementing and downhole packer services. Record corrective actions and lessons learned and study the introduction of new technology.
• Adhere to HSE policies, maintaining awareness and compliance with HSE regulations.

Supervision

• Plan, supervise, and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to achieve functional objectives.
• Train and develop assigned staff on relevant skills to improve proficiency and meet section objectives.

Budgets

• Provide input for preparing departmental or sectional budgets and assist in implementing the approved budget and work plans.
• Investigate and highlight significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.

Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures

• Execute approved departmental or sectional policies, processes, systems, standards, and procedures to support departmental and sectional work programs in alignment with company and international standards.
• Ensure compliance with applicable legislation and legal regulations.

Performance Management

• Contribute to the achievement of approved performance objectives for the department or section.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

• Design and implement new tools and techniques to enhance the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
• Identify internal process improvements against best practices to enhance efficiency in line with ISO standards.

Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability

• Adhere to relevant HSE policies, procedures, controls, applicable legislation, and sustainability guidelines in accordance with international standards and best practices.

Reports

• Provide inputs to prepare Section management information systems and progress reports for company management.

Internal Communications & Working Relationships

• Maintain contact with line manager, peers, and other employees within the company/group as required.

External Communications & Working Relationships

• Engage with external parties, including consultants, third-party service providers, and government agencies as required.

Minimum Qualification

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Discipline or Chemistry or equivalent.
