We are looking to establish a new Data Engineer role to implement and evolve our data classification capabilities. This position is vital for ensuring that our data assets are properly identified, categorized, and protected across systems. The role will support our commitment to data privacy, compliance, and governance as we scale. As part of your efforts, you will build foundational frameworks that enable secure and compliant data usage, drive automation and consistency in classification, and help reduce risk while improving data visibility.
Responsibilities:
- Data Classification Implementation: Design and implement frameworks to categorize sensitive and non-sensitive data according to InfoSec policies.
- Data Governance & Compliance: Ensure adherence to industry standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, and CCPA, working with legal and compliance teams.
- Data Classification Automation: Develop automated pipelines for effective data classification.
- Tools Integration: Integrate classification tools into the organization’s data ecosystem.
- Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate data classification and provide required resources.
- Data Security: Implement security measures to protect classified data.
- Continuous Improvement: Monitor and review the classification process for opportunities for enhancement based on evolving regulations and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related fields.
- Proven experience with data classification tools and frameworks (e.g., Apache Atlas, Collibra, Informatica).
- Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, and experience with ETL/ELT processes (e.g., Apache Airflow, dbt).
- Familiarity with data privacy and compliance regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA).
Additional Requirements:
- Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles and risk management.
- Ability to influence and drive change within business and technical teams.
