Responsibilities
- Perform specific and limited portions of broader assignments under the guidance of experienced engineers.
- Gather and correlate basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
- Work on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
- Propose approaches to solve new problems encountered during projects.
- Identify discrepancies in results and provide guidance to entry-level engineers.
- Ensure work is performed in accordance with agreed-upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.
General Requirements
The candidate should possess specific experience in:
- Geotechnical Investigations
- Assessment of Geotechnical Parameters
- Preparation of Ground Models for different design situations
The candidate should also have experience in at least three of the following areas:
- Shallow Foundation Design
- Deep Foundation Design
- Earthworks (Embankment) Design
- Slope Design
- Excavation Lateral Support Design
- Ground Improvement Design
- Liquefaction Assessment
Additional beneficial expertise includes:
- Geophysical Survey
- Seismic Design
- Geotechnics of dam design
Software Proficiency
Knowledge of the following software packages or their equivalents would be an advantage:
- Slope/W or Slide
- Seep/W
- Plaxis 2D or RS2 or Sigma/W
- Repute, Group, and LPile
- PDisp or Settle 3D
- CPeT-IT
- CLiq or Liquefy-Pro
- A 3D FEM software would be considered advantageous.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
- Minimum 3-5 years of professional geotechnical engineering experience
- Demonstrated expertise in geotechnical design, site investigation, and foundation engineering
- Proficiency with geotechnical analysis and design software such as PLAXIS, GEO-STUDIO, or similar platforms
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to tackle complex geotechnical challenges
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to prepare clear technical documentation and reports
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent qualification (preferred)
- Experience working on infrastructure, transportation, or large-scale building projects
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with earth retaining systems design and underground works
- Familiarity with UAE construction standards, soil conditions, and regional geotechnical considerations
- Project management experience and demonstrated ability to lead technical teams
- Knowledge of quality assurance, compliance, and safety protocols in geotechnical engineering
- Experience mentoring junior engineers and contributing to team development
- Advanced certifications or specialized training in geotechnical engineering disciplines
