Engineer -HVAC

About the Role
Owns the technical performance of the BMS/EMS and HVAC plant to ensure that all cleanrooms and controlled areas remain in a validated, GMP-compliant state.

Responsibilities

• Act as the technical system owner of the BMS/EMS (e.g., Siemens Desigo CC), including configuration, alarms, trends, PID tuning, backups, and user access.
• Lead troubleshooting of HVAC failures and environmental excursions; drive root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Manage preventive maintenance (PM), calibration, HEPA/airflow testing, and shutdowns for HVAC and BMS/EMS systems.
• Own change controls, deviations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for HVAC/BMS; support qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) and computerized system validation.
• Ensure BMS/EMS data integrity in compliance with 21 CFR Part 11 and EU GMP Annex 11.
• Provide HVAC/BMS input to projects and supervise contractors and vendors.
• Identify and implement energy savings initiatives that do not impact GMP compliance.
• Supervise and train operators and technicians; serve as the on-call escalation point.
• Represent HVAC/BMS in audits and regulatory inspections.
• Enforce permit-to-work, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and environmental health and safety (EHS) requirements.

Experience & Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Control Engineering.
• 5–8 years of experience in HVAC/BMS, including at least 3 years in a pharmaceutical or GMP facility.
• Hands-on experience with BMS programming (Siemens Desigo CC preferred; Honeywell, JCI, or Schneider accepted).
• Strong knowledge of EU GMP Annex 1, ISO 14644, GAMP 5, ALCOA+, and cleanroom HVAC standards.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, technical writing ability, and team leadership experience; fluency in English is required, Arabic is an advantage.
