Core Responsibilities
- Engage in hands-on protection relay programming, configuration, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting for MV and LV systems.
- Apply strong expertise with protection relays from the company, Siemens, and Schneider Electric.
- Utilize platforms such as the company Relion, Siemens SIPROTEC, Schneider Easergy/SEPAM, or equivalents.
- Understand and implement various protection schemes, including overcurrent, earth fault, directional protection, under/over-voltage, under/over-frequency, transformer, motor, and busbar protection.
- Interpret single line diagrams (SLDs), protection schematics, control schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Conduct secondary injection testing, functional testing, trip testing, interlock verification, and complete end-to-end protection testing.
- Preferably utilize OMICRON or equivalent relay test equipment.
- Lead FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing), SAT (Site Acceptance Testing), commissioning, troubleshooting, and final validation of MV and LV protection systems.
- Verify relay settings against approved protection coordination studies and prepare relay setting files, test procedures, test reports, commissioning reports, and protection documentation.
Communication & Networking Expertise
- Exhibit strong knowledge of industrial communication networks and complete communication topology related to MV/LV protection and control systems.
- Demonstrate practical experience with communication protocols such as Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP/IP, Profibus, Profinet, IEC 61850, and Industrial Ethernet.
- Show understanding of IEC 61850 architecture, including the configuration of IEDs, Station Bus, Process Bus, GOOSE, MMS, and SCL.
- Configure and troubleshoot communication mapping, data points, alarms, and protection signals.
- Understand network switches, VLANs, IP addressing, and basic network diagnostics to troubleshoot communication issues across the system chain.
Control, SCADA & System Architecture
- Maintain thorough knowledge of the complete protection, control, and communication system architecture.
- Integrate protection relays with PLC, RTU, SCADA, and other supervisory control systems.
- Review communication architecture drawings, network topology, I/O lists, signal lists, communication matrices, and cause-and-effect diagrams.
- Conduct FAT/SAT and end-to-end communication testing.
Desired Candidate Profile
- The ideal candidate will be a complete Protection Relay Programming & Testing Engineer with strong hands-on experience, capable of handling the lifecycle of a protection system independently, from relay programming to final system validation.
- A thorough understanding of MV protection systems, control and relay panels, protection coordination, and industrial communication protocols is essential, alongside significant practical experience with the company, Siemens, and Schneider relays.
- Candidates with experience in MV switchgear manufacturing, system integration, protection engineering, testing, and commissioning will be preferred.
