The Protection Relay Programming & Testing Engineer will be responsible for hands-on programming, configuration, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting for Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) protection systems. This role requires a candidate with a strong background in protection relay technology, preferably from manufacturers such as ABB, Siemens, and Schneider Electric.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hands-on experience in programming and testing protection relays.
- Familiarity with platforms like ABB Relion, Siemens SIPROTEC, and Schneider Easergy/SEPAM.
- Strong knowledge of protection schemes, including overcurrent, earth fault, directional protection, under/over-voltage, and transformer protection.
- Ability to interpret Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Experience in secondary injection testing, trip testing, and interlock verification.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree (B.E./B.Tech.) in Electrical Engineering.
- 7–12 years of relevant experience in protection relay programming, testing, commissioning, and protection/control systems.
- Experience with MV switchgear and control/relay panels is advantageous.
Core Technical Expertise:
- Strong practical experience with protections relays, including troubleshooting and communication systems.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP/IP, Profibus, Profinet, IEC 61850).
- Knowledge of network architecture, including IP addressing and network diagnostics.
Desired Candidate Profile:
- A complete Protection Relay Programming & Testing Engineer with operational experience across the lifecycle of protection systems.
- Strong understanding of MV protection systems and experience in testing, troubleshooting, and validation.
