Position

An exciting opportunity is available for an Electrical Reliability Engineer located in Jubail, Eastern, Saudi Arabia. This role is responsible for driving initiatives that enhance the reliability, availability, and maintainability of the plant’s electrical assets. The engineer will lead the implementation of reliability best practices and support continuous improvement by evaluating and adopting new technologies and innovative solutions, with a strong focus on Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), switchgear, transformers, and protection relays, ensuring optimal performance and long-term asset integrity.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Expert knowledge of power system protection, including design, calculation, configuration & testing.
  • Hands-on experience with ETAP power system software (load flow, short circuit, ARC flash analysis, ETAP STAR).
  • Highly experienced in variable frequency drives from various manufacturers, especially ABB (ACS800, ACS880 & ACS6000 series) & Siemens.
  • Skilled in power transformers design, calculation & maintenance, with experience in transformers DGA analysis.
  • Experienced in LV switchgear maintenance, particularly ABB MNS with ABB EMAX1 circuit breakers.
  • Knowledgeable about MV & HV switchgear maintenance and reliability analysis.
  • Proficient in partial discharge analysis in MV motors, transformers & switchgears.
  • Familiar with electrical condition monitoring methodologies, including thermography & ultrasound; capable of analyzing thermal images using FLIR software.
  • Strong background in UPS & Battery Chargers maintenance practices.
  • Knowledgeable about synchronous motors and generators.
  • Excellent understanding of reliability engineering methodologies and principles such as RCM & FMEA analysis.
  • Capable of reading & understanding electrical drawings (single line diagrams, protection schematics, electronic schematics).
  • Basic knowledge in cathodic protection.
  • Awareness of hazardous area classification and electrical installation in high explosive atmospheres.
  • Familiar with SAP system & MERIDIUM APM.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 12 years of electrical engineering experience in Petrochemical, Oil & Gas sectors.

Must-have Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of protection relays and ETAP software.
  • Extensive experience with VFDs, switchgear, motors, transformers, UPS systems, and battery chargers.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical problem-solving skills.
