About the Role
In this position, you will be responsible for effective incident and change request (CR) handling, as well as alarm monitoring for fixed transmission network domains on a 24/7 basis in shifts. Your key responsibilities include monitoring major and critical fault alarms, timely escalation to management and Service Level Objectives (SLO), and the improvement of Ticket Turnaround Times (TT SLAs). You will ensure thorough communication regarding alarms, incidents, and TTs to management, and approve CRs that technically involve outage monitoring. Additionally, you will document, plan, and execute various innovative and digital initiatives to enhance operational efficiency within the System Operations Center (SoC).

You will also perform periodic health checks of transport network solutions and devices via automation scripts and optimize alarm management to reduce non-actionable alarms. Ensuring the maximization of existing tools and the adoption of newly enabled dashboards and monitoring tools is crucial. Furthermore, you will fully support disaster recovery and business continuity activities of the fixed transmission network.
Key Responsibilities
- Effective incident/CR handling and alarm monitoring for fixed Transmission network domains on a 24/7 basis in shifts.
- Monitor all major/critical fault alarms and escalate them to Management/SLO in a timely manner; improve TT SLAs.
- Share information regarding alarms/incidents/TTs with management and approve technical CRs involving outage monitoring.
- Document, plan and execute various SoC internal innovative/digital initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
- Perform periodic health checks of transport network solutions/devices using automation scripts.
- Optimize alarms to reduce non-actionable alarm floods.
- Maximize existing tools and adopt newly enabled Dashboards/monitoring tools.
- Support disaster recovery and business continuity activities of fixed Transmission network.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecom or Electronics & Communications Engineering or an equivalent diploma in the same field of study.
Experience
- 5 years of hands-on operational experience in fixed Transmission in carrier-grade networks.
- Thorough knowledge of alarms and faults related to various fixed Transmission network technologies.
Skills
- Proficient knowledge and skills regarding faults and alarms of transmission equipment (OTN, SDH, ITMC, OSN, Infinera) including Huawei equipment (Optix BWS1600G, Optix OSN 9800, 8800, 6800, 7500, 3500, 1500) and NOKIA equipment (PSS64, PSS32, PSS36, PSS16). Familiarity with test equipment (E1 Tester, SDH Analyser, GE Tester, Power Meter) is also essential.
- Expertise in automation of fixed Transmission networks.
- Strong skills in complex problem-solving, inter/intra team collaboration, excellent communication, and a commitment to achieving results.
