We are hiring an Engineering Director who will take ownership of the development and operations of internal software products supporting the company's business, including a popular security solution, Livepatch. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering full-stack software services, maintaining high engineering quality standards, and nurturing the skills of their direct reports.
The Engineering Director will lead the Commercial Systems unit, consisting of three engineering teams:
- Billing Team: Designs and develops a Golang service for billing capabilities, providing customers with real-time spend insights and ensuring accurate billing.
- Contracts Team: Develops a Golang service serving as the single source of truth for customer contracts and integrating with various engineering and business systems.
- Livepatch Team: Focuses on delivering Linux kernel patches to mitigate vulnerabilities while maintaining system operations.
Role Responsibilities:
- Lead multiple teams of engineers, from graduates to seniors.
- Develop engineering managers to uphold the company's culture.
- Implement solid performance management and objectives.
- Measure and enhance team health indicators.
- Accountable for product development roadmaps.
- Collaborate with other leaders in the Commercial Systems unit.
- Expand teams by hiring top talent.
- Engage with stakeholders and product users.
Requirements:
- Exceptional academic track record with an undergraduate degree in a technical subject or equivalent experience.
- Proven ability to lead teams of software engineers to deliver outstanding results.
- Engineering experience in at least one of the following: Golang, Python, Java, or distributed integrations.
- Strong written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills.
- Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events up to two weeks long.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience in performance engineering and DevOps/SRE.
- Knowledge in accounting, sales, or business operations.
