In this technical management role, you will lead a team that focuses on developing Python and Golang micro-services for the company's software distribution engine, including the Snap Store and Charmhub.io marketplaces. This position aims to enhance the user experience of open source software by expanding the range of software delivered through the system.
As an Engineering Manager, your core responsibility will be to manage and develop your team, ensuring they work effectively and productively. You will guide them in code development, foster their professional growth, and maintain a positive team culture. Collaboration with other Engineering Managers, product managers, and architects to establish a clear engineering roadmap is crucial.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a remote engineering team and collaborate across different time zones.
- Coach and mentor team members, promoting their career development.
- Build and maintain clean web service APIs using Python (and optionally Golang).
- Engage with the open-source community and commercial partners.
What We Are Looking For:
- Experience in leading modern, agile software development practices.
- Ability to cultivate a collaborative engineering culture.
- Demonstrated experience in sound engineering principles.
- Passion for mentoring and developing others.
- Software development experience in Python; experience with Golang is preferred.
- Effective communication skills and practical experience with Linux system administration.
- Willingness to travel up to 4 times annually for internal events.
Language Requirements:
Fluency in English is expected due to the global nature of the team and communication.
