About the Job:
Canonical is a leading provider of open-source software and operating systems to global enterprise and technology markets. We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join the Launchpad team and help drive the evolution of a critical development platform used by influential open-source projects, including Ubuntu.
In this role, you will be responsible for guiding your team, fostering technical excellence, and shaping the strategic direction of Launchpad's continued success. As an engineering manager, you will serve as a servant leader focused on enabling your team to perform their best work, ensuring a thriving engineering culture where innovation and collaboration flourish.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Growing a high-performing engineering team and fostering an environment of collaboration and technical excellence.
- Coaching, mentoring, and providing hands-on career development opportunities.
- Building strong relationships with stakeholders across teams and driving alignment for shared success.
- Spearheading the continuous development of Launchpad, which is essential to software like Ubuntu.
- Advocating for modern, agile software development practices.
- Enjoying the autonomy of remote work while engaging with global teams, including international travel for key events (up to 6 weeks per year).

What We Are Looking For:
- Experience managing a distributed team with a track record in feature delivery and robust production services.
- A passion for mentoring and developing engineers to foster continuous learning and professional growth.
- Deep technical expertise with experience designing and evolving distributed systems.
- Strong communication skills to align across teams and stakeholders.
- A track record of implementing agile methodologies and fostering a collaborative work environment.
