As an Engineering Manager, your primary responsibilities will be to lead and develop a team of engineers, ensure sound software architecture, and uphold best practices in software quality and documentation. You will foster a collaborative engineering culture aligned with Canonical's values, advance agile software development practices, and support your team's professional growth through mentoring and feedback.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team focused on building a Ceph distributed storage solution.
- Manage a globally distributed team of engineers.
- Develop your team through coaching and mentoring.
- Contribute to engineering goals and demonstrate sound engineering principles.
- Set and manage reasonable project schedules with feedback loops for improvements.
- Collaborate with other engineering teams and external stakeholders.
- Maintain a culture of quality and engineering excellence.
- Participate as a member of the leadership team and engage in strategic discussions.
- Work remotely with global travel up to 20% for internal and external events.
Who You Are:
- You have a software engineering background, preferably with Python and C++ experience.
- You have operational experience with scalable storage clusters on Linux, ideally with Ceph in production environments.
- You are passionate about new technologies and developing others.
- You have experience leading and mentoring software developers in delivering high-quality software.
- You enjoy building products that enhance software and infrastructure operations.
- You are knowledgeable about software development within an agile environment.
