As an Engineering Manager at Canonical, your role is to run an effective team and develop your colleagues. You are expected to help your team grow as engineers, deliver outstanding work, find professional and personal satisfaction, and collaborate well with colleagues and the community. You will need technical leadership experience along with a software engineering background to effectively lead and develop strong engineers, positively influence the culture, facilitate technical delivery, and work on strategy and execution. You will be responsible for sound software architecture, software quality, testing, and documentation best practices.

What You'll Do:
- Lead a team building a Ceph-focused software-defined storage solution.
- Build and manage a globally distributed team of engineers.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and feedback to develop your team.
- Contribute directly to your team's goals while demonstrating sound engineering principles.
- Set reasonable schedules based on considered estimates, with feedback loops for improvement.
- Manage expectations with other engineering teams and external stakeholders.
- Advance modern agile software development practices and maintain a culture of quality and engineering excellence.
- Foster a collaborative engineering culture in line with company values.
- Engage as part of the leadership team, collaborating with other leaders in the organization.
Who You Are:
- You have a strong software engineering background, preferably with Python and C++ experience.
- You have experience operating scale-out storage clusters on Linux in production environments, preferably with Ceph.
- You embrace new technologies and push the boundaries of what is possible.
- You are passionate about developing and growing people, with a successful track record.
- You are knowledgeable and passionate about software development and agile practices.
Language Requirements:
English proficiency is assumed; additional language skills may be beneficial.
