We are seeking an Engineering Manager for Ceph & Distributed Storage to help teams store data in open source storage on commodity hardware safely, economically, and simply. Our aim is to make Ceph easy to install, manage, and use, assisting in keeping pace with the increasing demands for data storage.
In this role, you will not only need technical strength but also be responsible for leading an effective team and developing your colleagues. You will help them grow as engineers and ensure they perform outstanding work while finding professional satisfaction. Technical leadership experience and a background in software engineering are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team focused on building a Ceph-centered software-defined storage solution.
- Build and manage a globally distributed team of engineers.
- Develop your team through coaching, mentoring, and feedback.
- Contribute directly to your team's goals by demonstrating sound engineering principles.
- Set reasonable schedules and manage expectations with other engineering teams and stakeholders.
- Advance agile software development practices and maintain a culture of quality and engineering excellence.
- Collaborate as part of the leadership team across the organization.
Who You Are:
- You have a software engineering background, preferably with experience in Python and C++.
- You have experience operating scale-out storage clusters on Linux in production environments, preferably with Ceph.
- You are passionate about embracing new technologies and developing talent.
- You possess solid experience in leading, managing, coaching, and mentoring software developers.
- You thrive in an agile development environment and are knowledgeable about software development practices.
