As an Engineering Manager for Ceph & Distributed Storage at Canonical, you will lead a talented team that focuses on building innovative solutions for data management. This role requires strong technical leadership, alongside a commitment to developing and mentoring engineers. You will collaborate with your team to foster a culture of quality and excellence, ensuring sound software architecture and best practices are upheld.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team in constructing a Ceph-focused software-defined storage solution.
- Build and manage a globally distributed team of engineers.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and feedback to develop your team.
- Contribute actively to team goals by demonstrating sound engineering principles.
- Set reasonable project schedules with feedback loops for continuous improvement.
- Manage expectations with other engineering teams and stakeholders.
- Promote modern, agile software development practices.
- Uphold a culture of quality and engineering excellence.
- Collaborate with leadership and other teams within the organization.
Who You Are:
- You possess a background in software engineering, with experience in Python and C++.
- You have operated scale-out storage clusters on Linux in production environments, preferably with Ceph.
- You enjoy exploring new technologies and challenging existing boundaries.
- You have a passion for developing people and a track record of successfully doing so.
- Your experience includes leading, managing, coaching, and mentoring software developers to deliver timely and high-quality software.
- You are familiar with agile development environments.
Work Conditions: Full-time, Remote with global travel up to 20% for internal and external events.
Location: Jiddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia (Remote)
