We are hiring an Engineering Manager for Ceph & Distributed Storage. Our goal is to empower teams to safely, cheaply, and simply store data in open-source storage on commodity hardware, addressing the growing data storage demands. The role involves making Ceph easier to install, manage, and use, from large enterprise data center installations to half-rack edge sites.
Work Conditions: Full-time, Remote with global travel up to 20% for internal and external events
Location: Mecca, Makkah, Saudi Arabia (Remote)
Responsibilities:
- Lead a team building a Ceph-focused software-defined storage solution.
- Build and manage a globally distributed team of engineers.
- Develop your team through coaching, mentoring, and feedback.
- Contribute directly toward your team's goals using sound engineering principles.
- Set reasonable schedules with feedback loops for improvement.
- Manage expectations with other engineering teams and external stakeholders.
- Advance modern, agile software development practices.
- Maintain a culture of quality and engineering excellence.
- Foster a collaborative engineering culture aligned with company values.
- Actively participate as a member of the leadership team.
Who You Are:
- You have a software engineering background, preferably with experience in Python and C++.
- Familiarity with operating scale-out storage clusters on Linux, preferably with Ceph.
- A passion for embracing new technologies and pushing the boundaries of what is possible.
- A proven track record in developing and growing people.
- Interest in building products that enhance software and infrastructure operations.
- Knowledgeable about software development and experienced in leading and mentoring software developers in an agile development environment.
