We are seeking an Engineering Manager for Ceph & Distributed Storage. As data creation accelerates, our mission is to help teams store data on open-source storage using commodity hardware efficiently and simply. Our goal is to make Ceph easy to install, manage, and use, whether for large enterprise data center setups or for smaller edge sites.
In this role, you will be responsible for running an effective team and developing the colleagues you manage. Expect to lead, challenge, and nurture strong engineers while overseeing sound software architecture and best practices in software quality, testing, and documentation.
Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (Remote)
Work Conditions: Full-time, with global travel up to 20% for internal and external events
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team in building a Ceph-focused software-defined storage solution
- Build and manage a globally distributed team of engineers
- Develop your team through coaching, mentoring, and providing constructive feedback
- Set reasonable timelines based on considered estimates and foster feedback loops for improvement
- Maintain a culture of quality and excellence in engineering
- Collaborate with other leaders in the organization as part of the leadership team
Who You Are:
- You have a software engineering background, preferably with experience in Python and C++
- You possess experience operating scale-out storage clusters on Linux in production environments, ideally with Ceph
- You are passionate about embracing new technologies and pushing boundaries
- You have a track record of developing and growing people
- You are knowledgeable about software development and have experience leading and mentoring software developers
Language Requirements:
- English proficiency is required.
