Engineering Manager - Ceph & Distributed Storage

Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems, primarily known for its platform, Ubuntu. In the context of the increasing amount of data generated globally, we are looking for an Engineering Manager for Ceph & Distributed Storage. Our aim is to simplify open source storage on commodity hardware to meet the growing data storage demands. The role requires ensuring that our Ceph storage solutions are easy to install, manage, and use, catering to a range of environments from large enterprise data centers to edge storage sites.

As an Engineering Manager at Canonical, you will lead a team of engineers focused on developing a Ceph-centric software-defined storage solution. Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and managing a globally distributed team of engineers.
• Coaching and mentoring team members to foster their growth.
• Contributing directly to the team's goals using sound engineering principles.
• Setting realistic schedules and managing expectations with stakeholders.
• Promoting quality and engineering excellence within the team.
• Collaborating with leadership and other engineering teams.

Who You Are:

• You have a software engineering background, preferably with experience in Python and C++.
• You have experience operating scale-out storage clusters on Linux, ideally with Ceph.
• You are passionate about adopting new technologies and enhancing software and infrastructure operations.
• You possess a track record in developing and growing engineering talent.
• You have solid experience in leadership roles within an agile development environment.

Fluency in English is expected.
