The Data Platform team covers a wide range of data stores and technologies, from Big Data and NoSQL to structured SQL engines such as Postgres and MySQL. The goal is to deliver fault-tolerant, mission-critical distributed systems and the world’s best data platform.

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a team focused on Big Data and MySQL databases, developing scalable data solutions for Kubernetes and cloud machines. Your responsibilities will include hiring, coaching, and mentoring your team, contributing code when necessary, managing expectations with stakeholders, promoting agile software development practices, and ensuring the team delivers high-quality products.

Location: Mecca, Makkah, Saudi Arabia (Remote)
Work Conditions: Full-time, fully remote with global travel twice yearly for internal events of one or two weeks duration.

What We Are Looking For:

  • A software engineering background, preferably with experience in Python and Golang.
  • Experience running Big Data or MySQL in production at scale.
  • Excellent judgment regarding team members' motivations, abilities, and developmental needs.
  • Proven capability in building high-quality, open-source software and driving good engineering practices.
  • An open-minded attitude towards new technologies and a passion for software development and team growth.

Additional Skills That You Might Bring:

  • Specialist knowledge in Spark, Superset, MySQL, or similar.
  • Prior experience working with open-source communities.
