Position

We are hiring an Engineering Manager for IAM (Identity and Access Management) to lead a team in building high-performing Go and Python services, as well as secure identity and access management solutions for Canonical's products. In this remote role (EMEA or AMER regions), you will transform the future of identity management by defining how users access open source applications. While specific IAM experience is desirable, it is not essential. You will collaborate with upstream open source projects and internal teams to deliver high-quality software for deployment across various environments.

As the engineering manager, your responsibilities include shaping the technical vision for products, managing team backlogs, reviewing code, mentoring team members, and overseeing the full software development process—from design to troubleshooting. This position also offers opportunities to engage with industry-leading teams and participate in open source community events.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Proven experience in hiring and leading a high-performance software engineering team
  • Proficiency in Go and Python software development
  • Ability to design and implement complex distributed systems
  • Experience with container technology and Kubernetes
  • Strong understanding of software/infrastructure security and performance
  • Knowledge of identity and access management technologies and standards is desirable but not essential
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability
  • Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events (up to two weeks long)
