Our platform, Ubuntu, is integral to many enterprise initiatives across various sectors including public cloud, data science, AI, and IoT. We are expanding our MAAS ("Metal as a Service") team, with a mission to provide a seamless solution for managing private bare-metal infrastructure using an on-demand API for server provisioning, network configuration, and storage.

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead the MAAS team, responsible for developing our hyperscale provisioning technology. This role requires experience in high-quality software development, team leadership, and strong familiarity with Linux on physical servers, Linux storage, and data center networking.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading a distributed team of engineers while focusing on talent development through coaching and mentoring.
  • Setting expectations with other engineering teams and stakeholders.
  • Advocating for modern software development practices, participating in code and architectural reviews, and engaging with the broader community.
  • Traveling for company events twice a year.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Proven experience delivering software using Python, Golang, or similar languages.
  • Experience with Linux system administration (Debian or Ubuntu preferred).
  • Familiarity with cloud computing technologies, including networking, storage, containers, and Kubernetes.
  • Professional written and spoken English skills.
  • Experience with agile software development methodologies.
  • Ability to mentor and develop team members.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience with Typescript and modern web frameworks (React, Angular, Svelte, or Vue).
  • Knowledge of data center infrastructure management and design.
