We are hiring an Engineering Manager to expand the MAAS (Metal as a Service) team. The mission of MAAS is to deliver the best solution for building and operating private bare-metal infrastructure. We aim to provide a cloud-style on-demand API for physical server provisioning, network configuration, and storage.

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a team responsible for the MAAS hyperscale provisioning technology, which is a rapidly evolving stack written in Python and Go. You'll play a key role in enhancing data center technology through open-source management platforms and will need experience in high-quality software development and high-performance team leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a distributed team of engineers within your time zone.
  • Foster talent development through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and career planning.
  • Set and manage expectations with other teams, management, and stakeholders.
  • Advocate for and advance modern software development practices.
  • Engage with teams across the company and the open-source community.
  • Travel for internal and external events approximately 4 to 6 weeks per year.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science.
  • Proven experience delivering software using Python, Go, or similar languages.
  • Experience with Linux system administration (preferably Debian or Ubuntu).
  • Familiarity with modern Linux cloud technologies (networking, storage, containers, Kubernetes).
  • Strong understanding of complex distributed systems.
  • Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills.
  • Experience with agile software development methodologies.
  • Ability to mentor and support team members.
  • Willingness to travel internationally for company events.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience with TypeScript and modern web frameworks (React, Angular, Svelte, Vue).
  • Knowledge of data center infrastructure management and design.

Work Conditions:

  • This is a work-from-anywhere position available in EMEA or the Americas.
  • The role involves managing a remote team and requires the ability to travel internationally twice a year.

Language Requirements:
Professional written and spoken English is required.
