The Engineering Manager will lead a distributed team, guiding technical delivery and fostering engineering excellence within the MAAS team, which is responsible for delivering hyperscale provisioning technology. This role requires a strong background in software engineering and experience in high-performance team leadership, particularly around Linux on physical servers, and a deep understanding of Linux storage and data center networking.
As an Engineering Manager, you will:
- Lead a distributed team of engineers within your time zone.
- Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, and career planning.
- Collaborate with various engineering teams and stakeholders.
- Advocate for modern software development practices.
- Engage in the engineering process through code and architectural reviews.
- Participate in internal and external events, traveling for 4 to 6 weeks per year.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or a related field.
- Exceptional academic record and proven experience in delivering software using Python, Golang, or similar languages.
- Experience with Linux system administration, particularly Debian or Ubuntu.
- Familiarity with modern cloud computing technologies, networking, storage, containers, and Kubernetes.
- Strong understanding of complex distributed systems.
- Proficient in professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills.
- Experience with agile software development methodologies.
- Willingness to travel internationally for company events (up to two weeks, twice a year).
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience with TypeScript and modern web frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Svelte, Vue).
- Background in data center infrastructure management.
