The Engineering Manager will lead a distributed team, guiding technical delivery and fostering engineering excellence within the MAAS team, which is responsible for delivering hyperscale provisioning technology. This role requires a strong background in software engineering and experience in high-performance team leadership, particularly around Linux on physical servers, and a deep understanding of Linux storage and data center networking.

As an Engineering Manager, you will:

  • Lead a distributed team of engineers within your time zone.
  • Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, and career planning.
  • Collaborate with various engineering teams and stakeholders.
  • Advocate for modern software development practices.
  • Engage in the engineering process through code and architectural reviews.
  • Participate in internal and external events, traveling for 4 to 6 weeks per year.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Exceptional academic record and proven experience in delivering software using Python, Golang, or similar languages.
  • Experience with Linux system administration, particularly Debian or Ubuntu.
  • Familiarity with modern cloud computing technologies, networking, storage, containers, and Kubernetes.
  • Strong understanding of complex distributed systems.
  • Proficient in professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills.
  • Experience with agile software development methodologies.
  • Willingness to travel internationally for company events (up to two weeks, twice a year).

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience with TypeScript and modern web frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Svelte, Vue).
  • Background in data center infrastructure management.
