You will collaborate with other Engineering Managers, product managers, and architects to create an engineering roadmap with ambitious and achievable goals. Fluency in programming languages and a strong understanding of popular open-source machine learning tools like Kubeflow, MLFlow, and Feast are crucial. Code reviews and architectural leadership are part of the job, along with a commitment to healthy engineering practices, documentation, and performance optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a distributed team of engineers and its MLOps/Analytics portfolio.
- Organize and lead team processes to achieve objectives.
- Conduct one-on-one meetings with team members.
- Analyze team health indicators and interact with the community.
- Review code produced by engineers and represent Canonical at conferences.
- Mentor and guide team members towards their professional goals.
What We Are Looking For:
- Proven track record in software delivery and professional Python development experience, preferably in open source.
- A strong understanding of machine learning challenges and MLOps solutions.
- Exceptional academic track record and willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.
Additional Skills:
- Experience with machine learning libraries and building highly automated solutions.
- Familiarity with container technologies (Docker, LXD, Kubernetes).
- Experience with public clouds (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Strong passion for software quality and testing.
Language Requirements:
Fluency in relevant programming languages and strong communication skills.
