The role involves setting security standards for open-source software across the Ubuntu platform, which includes desktops, servers, edge devices, cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, and OpenStack. Responsibilities include certifying core components to meet industry standards and guiding development teams in implementing security best practices. A significant focus will be placed on working within cryptographic modules (FIPS 140) and system hardening, collaborating with industry partners to create secure operating system deployments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of engineers, providing coaching, mentoring, and career development feedback.
  • Implement disciplined engineering processes and represent the team to stakeholders and customers.
  • Plan and manage project progress and support product security requirements.
  • Collaborate with industry partners to support cryptography modules and system hardening efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional academic track record with an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proven experience in developing and growing teams.
  • Prior experience with FIPS/Common Criteria certified products and knowledge of related standards.
  • Familiarity with DISA-STIG or CIS benchmarks and related audit tools.
  • Knowledgeable in software and application security with experience in an agile development environment.

Work Conditions:

  • This is a full-time remote position with opportunities to travel twice a year for company events lasting up to two weeks.
  • Optional domain knowledge of Linux cryptography libraries (OpenSSL, GnuTLS) is valued.
