As the leading open source platform for large-scale cloud and edge deployments, we help customers meet strict security requirements such as FIPS, CIS, STIG, FedRAMP, and the new CRA. This role involves leading efforts to set security standards for open source software across the Ubuntu platform, from desktops to cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, and OpenStack.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of engineers, ranging from graduate to senior level.
  • Coach, mentor, and offer career development feedback.
  • Identify and measure team health indicators.
  • Implement disciplined engineering processes.
  • Represent your team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers.
  • Develop and evangelize great engineering and organizational practices.
  • Plan and manage progress on agreed goals and projects.
  • Support products and customers to meet strict product security requirements.
  • Collaborate with industry partners on cryptography modules and system hardening efforts.

Requirements:

  • Exceptional academic track record from high school and university.
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a related STEM field, or a compelling alternative path narrative.
  • Proven track record of exceeding expectations and a drive for results.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • A passion for developing and growing team members.
  • Strong organizational skills with a focus on high-quality results.
  • Prior experience with FIPS/Common Criteria certified products and knowledge of related standards.
  • Experience with DISA-STIG or CIS benchmarks, including audit and remediation tooling.
  • Knowledgeable and passionate about software and application security.
  • Experience in an agile development environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continual learning.
  • Ability to travel for company events.

Optional Preferences:

  • Hands-on knowledge of Linux cryptography libraries (OpenSSL, GnuTLS).
