We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead and inspire a regional software engineering team. This position involves working closely with our managed infrastructure operations team, which runs numerous private OpenStack clouds and Kubernetes clusters worldwide. Your primary responsibility will be the growth and support of your team, ensuring they are engaged, developing as engineers, and satisfied in their careers at Canonical.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of Python engineers operating globally
  • Hire, coach, mentor, and provide hands-on career development
  • Contribute code to demonstrate sound engineering principles
  • Plan and manage project goals and progress
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Advocate for modern, agile software development practices
  • Foster a collaborative engineering culture aligned with company values
  • Travel globally up to 10% of the time for events

Who You Are:

  • Passionate about developing and growing people with a proven track record
  • Knowledgeable in agile software development
  • Experienced in leading, coaching, and mentoring Python developers
  • Familiar with cloud computing concepts and technologies
  • Comfortable managing Linux servers and software automation
  • Organized with a focus on timely delivery of high-quality software

Bonus Points For:

  • A university degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Understanding of infrastructure like OpenStack or Kubernetes
  • Experience in both operations and software development
  • Familiarity with large-scale, multi-cloud operations
