The company is seeking a technical Engineering Manager to redefine the embedded Linux experience, focusing on creating the most secure and reliable operating system for the IoT market. This role is an exciting opportunity for a technical leader who is passionate about open source software, Linux, containers, security, and enhancing the developer experience. You will lead a team of skilled software developers to design and implement Ubuntu Core system software across various CPU architectures, including ARM, RISC-V, and X86. Responsibilities include meeting stakeholders, prioritizing tasks, planning roadmaps, and ensuring delivery of team goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and lead a distributed engineering team through hiring, coaching, mentoring, and career development.
  • Contribute directly to team goals utilizing sound engineering principles.
  • Set and manage expectations with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders.
  • Advocate for modern, agile software development practices.
  • Contribute to a healthy and collaborative engineering culture.
  • Collaborate with other leaders in the organization and participate actively in the leadership team.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in embedded software development.
  • Strong skills in Golang, C++, and Shell.
  • Solid understanding of Linux and familiarity with Debian or Ubuntu distributions.
  • Experience in coaching and developing team members.
  • Ability to plan and execute the delivery of high-quality software in a timely manner.
  • Experience in agile development environments.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills, with strong presentation abilities.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Familiarity with immutable Linux distributions, preferably Ubuntu Core.
  • Experience with multiple CPU architectures such as ARM and RISC-V.
  • Knowledge of Linux native containerization and security.

Language Requirement: Professional written and spoken English.
