As the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for building and leading a globally distributed team of engineers, developing talent through coaching and mentoring, defining the vision and strategy in collaboration with Product Management, and ensuring effective communication and collaboration across engineering teams and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and lead a globally distributed team of engineers.
- Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, and hands-on career development.
- Define vision and strategy for Ubuntu in cooperation with Product Management.
- Set and manage expectations with engineering teams and external stakeholders.
- Advocate for modern, agile software development practices.
- Participate in engineering processes and engage with the open source community and commercial partners.
- Oversee the quality and delivery of the Ubuntu Server features and image family.
Who You Are:
- Passionate about developing and growing people with a strong track record.
- Knowledgeable about software development with at least 3 years of experience in managing and mentoring software developers.
- Experienced in agile development environments.
- Holds a Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Computer Science, STEM, or similar fields.
- Strong written and verbal technical communication skills in English.
- Familiar with a modern GNU/Linux distribution; experience with Debian or Ubuntu preferred.
- Practical experience with Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or Amazon Web Services.
