Key Responsibilities:
- Build and lead a globally distributed team of engineers
- Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and career development
- Collaborate with Product Management to define vision and strategy for Ubuntu
- Set and manage expectations with engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders
- Advocate for modern, agile software development practices
- Engage with teams at Canonical, the open-source community, and commercial partners
- Oversee the quality of the Ubuntu Server image family
- Plan and deliver Ubuntu Server features
Who You Are:
- Passionate about developing and growing engineering talent
- Knowledgeable about software development with 3+ years of experience in leading and mentoring software developers (experience with distributed teams is a plus)
- Focused on delivering high-quality software in a timely manner
- Experienced in an agile development environment
- Holder of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field
- Strong written and verbal technical communication skills in English
- Familiarity with modern GNU/Linux distributions, preferably Debian or Ubuntu
- Practical experience with one or more cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or Amazon Web Services)
