In this role, you will manage the team delivering the Ubuntu Server Distribution, the world’s most popular Linux for cloud and bare metal. You will be responsible for providing the latest, high-quality open-source software components, focusing on the needs of large, innovative customers. You will be part of a leader-centric environment, promoting strong teams and highlighting the significance of open source.
Responsibilities:
- Build and lead a globally distributed team of engineers.
- Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, and career development.
- Collaborate with Product Management to define vision and strategies.
- Manage expectations with engineering teams, senior management, and stakeholders.
- Advocate for and advance modern, agile software development practices.
- Foster a collaborative engineering culture aligned with company values.
- Engage with teams at Canonical and the open-source community.
- Oversee the quality of the Ubuntu Server image family.
Who You Are:
- Passionate about developing and growing people with a strong track record.
- Knowledgeable about software development with 3+ years in management or coaching.
- Experienced in agile development environments and distributed teams.
- Holds a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or similar.
- Fluent in written and verbal technical communication in English.
- Familiar with modern GNU/Linux distributions, with a preference for Debian or Ubuntu.
- Practical experience with cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or Amazon Web Services.
