In this role, you will manage a team dedicated to delivering the Ubuntu Server Distribution globally. Ubuntu Server is the world's most popular Linux distribution for cloud and bare metal. Your responsibilities will include:
- Building and leading a globally distributed team of engineers
- Developing talent through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and hands-on career development
- Collaborating with Product Management to define the vision and strategy for Ubuntu and your team
- Managing expectations with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders
- Advocating for and advancing modern agile software development practices
- Promoting a healthy, collaborative engineering culture aligned with company values
- Engaging with the open source community and commercial partners
- Overseeing the quality of the Ubuntu Server image family and planning features
Who You Are:
- Experienced in developing and growing people, with a strong track record in leadership
- Passionate about software development with 3+ years in managing and mentoring software developers (experience with distributed teams is a plus)
- Committed to delivering timely and high-quality software
- Familiar with agile development methodologies
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field
- Possess strong written and verbal technical communication skills in English
- Have experience with a modern GNU/Linux distribution (preferably Debian or Ubuntu) and familiarity with Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or Amazon Web Services
