Key Responsibilities
- Address guest repair requests and communicate effectively to resolve maintenance issues.
- Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication.
- Conduct routine inspections of the property, identifying safety hazards and areas needing corrective action.
- Inspect and repair mechanical equipment, including appliances, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing components.
- Execute highly complex repairs while ensuring compliance with company standards and local/national codes.
- Use Lockout/Tagout systems before performing maintenance work.
- Maintain maintenance inventory and manage requisitioning of parts and supplies.
- Document daily activities and any problems reported using approved communication channels.
- Train and mentor junior engineers as needed, acting in a supervisory capacity in the absence of management.
- Perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including readings and rounds.
- Adhere to all company safety and security policies and procedures, including reporting maintenance problems and safety hazards.
- Maintain a professional appearance and ensure a welcoming environment for all guests.
- Carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds and assist with heavier lifting tasks as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent; certificate in a two-year technical diploma program for HVAC/refrigeration.
- Related Work Experience: Extensive training in general maintenance, advanced repairs, electrical or refrigeration, surface preparation, and painting.
- At least 2 years of hotel engineering/maintenance experience.
- Supervisory Experience: No prior supervisory experience required.
Required Qualifications
- License or Certification: Valid Driver’s License.
- Licenses in refrigeration or electrical (earned or currently pursuing).
- Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certification required.
- Compliance with applicable state and federal certification and/or licensing requirements.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- The position involves moving, lifting, carrying, pulling, and placing objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Ability to move up and down stairs, service ramps, and/or ladders and to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
- Engage with computerized systems for work-related information.
