About the Role
This position involves providing training and advice for the repair, calibration, and modification of various complex precision measurement equipment utilized within the GOK activities. The role includes offering technical and procedural guidance to KAF personnel and other GOK personnel on metrology-related matters, including the repair, calibration, or modification of precision measurement equipment, the conduct of laboratory operations, and the resolution of customer measurement problems. The successful candidate will deliver in-depth technical expertise in one or more disciplinary categories and can provide on-the-job training (OJT) or formal classroom training as required. Additionally, the role encompasses performing precision measurements, calibrations, modifications, maintenance, repairs, and other functions as necessary in all areas of laboratory operations, while assisting in the acquisition and maintenance of laboratory QA accreditation.

Responsibilities
- Deliver training and advice for the repair, calibration, and modification of complex precision measurement equipment.
- Provide technical and procedural guidance on metrology-related matters.
- Assist KAF personnel and GOK personnel in resolving measurement problems.
- Perform precision measurements, calibrations, modifications, maintenance, and repairs in laboratory operations.
- Contribute to obtaining and maintaining laboratory QA accreditation.
- Work with measurement areas including voltage, current, power, resistance, capacitance, inductance, time and frequency (500 MHz and below), and modulation.
- Manage repair, calibration, and/or modification of items such as audio and low-frequency signal generators, oscilloscopes, digital and analog voltmeters, AC/DC ammeters, watt meters, electronic counters, pulse generators, resistance, capacitance, inductance bridges, automated test equipment, and other general-purpose measuring equipment.
Qualifications
- An Associate’s degree in electronics technology from an accredited school and ten (10) years of work experience in operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating electronic precision measurement equipment and calibration laboratory reference standards. A working knowledge of basic concepts of electronics and science, including basic electricity, electronics, circuit theory, digital logic, algebra, and physics, is required.
- Alternatively, completion of a U.S. military precision measurement and calibration program, a precision measurement and calibration school at an accredited institution, or experience within a specialized calibration firm, along with twelve (12) years of work experience in operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating electronic TMDE such as analog and digital multimeters, electronic counters, function generators, signal generators, analog and digital tape recorders, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and calibration laboratory measurement standards.
- Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting TMDE and measurement standards by performing measurements with test equipment to identify issues at the component level is essential.
- Must possess basic electronic construction and repair skills, including soldering and wiring, and the ability to perform these functions on delicate circuit cards.
