Role Scope
Equipment Setup and Operation:
- Assist in the setup and teardown of audio, lighting, and visual equipment according to production requirements.
- Help with the technical equipment setup and teardown during rehearsals and live performances, including soundboards, lighting consoles, and special effects devices.
Stage Support:
- Collaborate closely with stage managers, directors, and fellow technicians for smooth scene transitions and set changes.
- Safely move props, scenery, and equipment on and off the stage during performances.
Maintenance and Repairs:
- Troubleshoot and address technical issues as they arise during rehearsals and live shows.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure the well-being of the cast, crew, and performers.
- Safely handle and store equipment, props, and materials in accordance with safety standards.
Communication:
- Maintain effective communication with production teams, stage managers, and other crew members.
- Follow cues and instructions accurately to ensure precise timing during performances.
Equipment Inventory:
- Assist in tracking technical equipment and supplies inventory, and report any shortages or damages to supervisors.
- Help with the loading and unloading of equipment for transportation to and from venues.
Qualifications
Essential
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Good spoken and written English
- 1-2 years of experience in live event production
- Familiarity with stage directions
- Keen interest in technology and keeping up with the latest technologies
- Strong troubleshooting skills and problem-solving ability
- Ability to adhere to strict timelines
- Computer skills
- Ability to stand for long hours if required
- Capacity to lift at least 25 kg
Desirable
- Technical theater training and knowledge
- Interest in technical aspects of live entertainment, including audio, lighting, and stagecraft
- Physically fit and capable of lifting and handling heavy equipment (at least 25 kg)
- Detail-oriented with a problem-solving mindset
- Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing production demands
- Electronics or Electrical Certificate is advantageous
- Desire to grow your career in the industry
- Background in theater or live events
- Basic knowledge of events
- People person who works well independently and as part of a larger team
