About the Role The Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for specifying, designing, sizing, and selecting all types of instruments and actuated valves, such as control valves, shutdown valves, and on-off valves. The role requires a strong understanding of client specifications, international standards, and industrial best practices. In addition, the engineer will provide technical requirements for all instrumentation bulk materials and instrumentation cables, manage vendors and suppliers for instrumentation equipment, and support installation at shop or site. Key Responsibilities - Review and understand client specifications during the proposal phase, raising clarifications and deviations from client requirements in the ITT. - Create the instrumentation design basis and project specifications in accordance with client requirements. - Provide technical requirements for instrumentation and preliminary MTOs for instrumentation bulk material during proposals. - Size and specify instrumentation and communication cables; define cable routing and prepare bulk material MTOs. - Provide inputs to other disciplines during project execution and participate in engineering meetings. - Deliver instrumentation engineering documents per project schedule and budget, including instrument index, I/O schedule, and cables schedule. - Provide engineering hour estimates during proposals for their discipline and track engineering hours during project execution. - Participate in peer reviews of P&IDs, providing inputs as required and defining the type of instrumentation needed during project execution. - Develop datasheets for instruments, including pressure, level, temperature, flow, fire and gas detectors, horns and beacons, and junction boxes with material selection and technical specification to be included in the technical requisition. - Define control valves, actuated valves, analyzers, and flow measurement instruments in collaboration with vendors. - Develop all instrumentation detail drawings and hook-ups during project execution. - Perform technical bid analyses for all instrumentation and instrumentation bulk material, providing feedback to vendors. - Review, comment on, and approve all outsourced instrumentation engineering and vendors' documentation. - Participate in safety studies, such as HAZOP, addressing action items. - Participate in 3D model review and resolving action items for their discipline. - Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) as required. - Define and review deliverables for SIL studies. - Lead and assist junior Instrumentation engineers/designers in developing engineering deliverables. - Maintain state-of-the-art knowledge in their discipline in accordance with applicable codes and standards. - Provide support to PSDs and Operation Teams as needed. - Demonstrate the ability and willingness to travel as required to meet project and business needs. - Actively support, participate in, and uphold the integrity and ongoing function of the company and facility HSSE program to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
