Our Automated Migration Technology (AMT) enables 100% automated migration of legacy enterprise application programming languages, such as COBOL and JCL, to modern programming languages including Java, Python, .NET, and PowerShell. We also facilitate the automatic migration of data from legacy databases like DB2 to modern open platform databases such as PostgreSQL or SQL Server. As the Europe Technical Lead / Solution Architect, you will primarily lead the technical delivery of large-scale legacy transformation and modernization projects and programs, applying your skills in .NET and/or Java alongside Avanade’s AMT toolset. You will utilize cloud technologies and DevOps practices, including CI/CD and containerization.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and mentor technical consultants assigned to projects.
- Facilitate the setup and configuration of target environments for migrated applications.
- Guide consultants in troubleshooting defects reported by clients, and recommend solutions.
- Collaborate closely with the AMT product R&D Migration team.
- Provide training and knowledge transfer to clients regarding the migrated environment.
- Prepare and present status reports to Delivery Leads and project executives.
- Occasionally travel onsite to clients for site surveys or to support key project events.
Skills and Experiences:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of effectively presenting complex information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- 5+ years of programming experience in either Java (using IntelliJ or similar IDE) or Python, as well as C# / .NET (using MS Visual Studio, ASP.NET, and PowerShell).
- Knowledge of legacy programming languages (e.g., COBOL, Assembler, JCL) is beneficial.
- Familiarity with DevOps and build tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Maven, Jenkins).
- Experience with container technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes / AKS).
- Understanding of cloud infrastructures (e.g., Windows Server/AD, Azure, AWS) and open databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQL Server).
- Prior experience managing enterprise mainframe applications or participating in large legacy migration/modernization projects is preferred.
