Field Service Engineer, ELSE Oman

About the Role
In this role, you will have the opportunity to engage in service work with low to medium complexity, adhering to work instructions, company standard processes, quality standards, and safety guidelines. You will plan and execute tasks with a focus on first-time right approaches with customers, demonstrating a sense of urgency and care within your area of responsibility. The work model for this position is onsite.

This role contributes to the Electrification sector in Oman.

Your Responsibilities
You will be mainly accountable for:

• Participating in Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) with customers for Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) where possible.
• Receiving project documentation and all technical information necessary to start site projects testing and commissioning activities.
• Filling in project-related reports and agreeing on actions with the Service Manager or Operations prior to site testing, commissioning, or modification of MV, LV switchgear, and Automation PLC.
• Completing preliminary activities such as permissions, gate passes, power on/shutdown permits, application program downloads, and documentation checks using appropriate software tools and instruments in accordance with company testing procedures.
• Verifying the correctness of all hardware connections between the systems (MV & LV systems, operator interfaces, and other network devices) under test to ensure compliance with related documents and proper functionality.
• Installing and verifying the correct functionality of all installed devices according to Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) results, utilizing diagnostic and application tools while following project documentation as reference.
• Providing feedback to the Engineering department for improvements in schemes, corrections of drawings, or other modifications required by the customer at the site post-supply.
• Solving hardware and functional inconsistencies discovered during site testing, modifying the incorrect hardware or software items, and retesting the new configurations.
• Updating system documentation with appropriate mark-ups and periodic software configuration updates, maintaining a trace of all changes as per company testing procedures.
• Obtaining the S.A.T (Factory Acceptance Test) certificate from the customer upon job completion, including a list of any pending items not yet completed, in collaboration with the Project Leader and Project Manager.
• Collecting all updated documentation upon concluding the commissioning job and sending it to the Operations Manager or Service Manager for the delivery of the “As Commissioned” documents to the Engineering Department when applicable.
• Gathering all certificates and other required documents to complete the “Log Project Book” for the specific project, and delivering it to the Project Leader and Project Manager for contractual use.
• Attending, together with the customer, the official testing of third-party devices when included in the scope of supply directly at subcontractor premises.

Qualifications for the Role

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Automation Engineering.
• 3-8 years of experience in the specific field of application or similar fields (MV & LV complete product knowledge for site projects testing and commissioning).
• Knowledge of common testing tools (hardware and computerized).
• Understanding of safe working procedures at site.
• Strong interpersonal relationship skills.
• Good relationship skills, team working, problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in the English language.
