About the Role
As a Finance Transformation Manager (ERP & Finance Systems), you will lead the migration of the finance landscape from the current environment to a modern, scalable target architecture. Reporting to the Head of Product & Delivery, you will serve as the bridge between Finance and Technology, overseeing the end-to-end transformation lifecycle from as-is process mapping to-to-be design, product selection, implementation, training, and benefits realization. This hands-on role is designed for a finance professional with strong understanding of accounting principles and the systems that support them, operating in a dynamic, regulated specialty insurance environment.

Process Analysis & Target Design
- Document and analyze as-is finance processes across the record-to-report, order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, premium accounting, billing, settlement, and treasury cycles.
- Identify pain points, manual workarounds, control weaknesses, and reconciliation burdens across existing systems.
- Design to-be process models that simplify, standardize, and automate finance operations in accordance with target system architecture and group accounting policy.
- Produce process documentation, data flow diagrams, control matrices, and functional requirement specifications suitable for vendor selection and audit.
Product Selection & Solution Evaluation
- Define selection criteria, conduct structured RFI/RFP processes, and evaluate ERP, billing, sub-ledger, reconciliation, tax, and reporting solutions based on functional, technical, regulatory, and commercial requirements.
- Build business cases, total cost of ownership models, and implementation roadmaps to support investment decisions at the executive and board level.
- Evaluate build-versus-buy trade-offs, determining whether capabilities should be developed in-house or through third-party systems.
- Manage vendor evaluation, proof-of-concept exercises, reference checks, and support contract and statement of work negotiations alongside Procurement and Legal teams.
Implementation & Delivery
- Lead or co-lead end-to-end finance system implementations covering scoping, configuration, integration design, testing, cutover, and hypercare.
- Own the finance workstream within broader transformation programs, managing scope, planning, budgeting, dependencies, risks, and issues.
- Define and oversee the design of the chart of accounts, ledger structures, cost center and profit center hierarchies, and multi-entity and multi-currency configurations.
- Specify and validate integrations between finance platforms and related systems, banking channels, and reporting/data platforms.
Data Migration, Controls & Compliance
- Design and govern the finance data migration approach, including data mapping, cleansing, opening balance strategy, reconciliation, and sign-off.
- Ensure the target design embeds appropriate financial controls, segregation of duties, approval workflows, and audit trails.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards (IFRS), statutory and regulatory reporting obligations, VAT, corporate tax requirements, and relevant supervisory expectations.
- Support internal and external audit requirements arising from the transformation.
Training, Adoption & Change Management
- Develop and deliver training materials, user guides, process manuals, and workshops for finance and operational users.
- Promote user adoption through structured change management, stakeholder engagement, and post-go-live support.
- Establish governance and ways of working for the finance system landscape post-go-live, including a continuous improvement backlog.
Collaboration & Ways of Working
- Partner with Finance, Underwriting Operations, Claims, Product, Engineering, and Data teams to ensure finance requirements are adequately integrated.
- Translate accounting and regulatory requirements into clear technical specifications and communicate technical constraints to Finance stakeholders effectively.
- Report progress, risks, and decisions clearly to executive stakeholders; escalate potential scope or timeline risks early.
Requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent) or finance professional with practical accounting experience.
- Proven track record in delivering ERP and finance system implementations or migrations end-to-end, including at least one full lifecycle as a lead or senior workstream owner.
- Strong experience with SAP (S/4HANA, SAP FI/CO, SAP BTP) and/or comparable ERP platforms like Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics 365, NetSuite, or Workday Financials.
- Demonstrable experience in as-is process mapping and to-be process design using recognized techniques (BPMN or similar).
- Practical experience with billing, sub-ledger, premium accounting, or receivables/payables engines, ideally in insurance, MGA, broking, or financial services.
- Strong understanding of financial controls, reconciliations, period-end close, and statutory reporting.
- Working knowledge of finance data structures, data migration, and reconciliation, with the ability to interrogate data directly (SQL or equivalent) a strong plus.
- Familiarity with IFRS and some exposure to insurance-specific accounting concepts is advantageous.
- Experience in Agile or hybrid delivery environments and comfort working alongside product and engineering teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with credibility at both operational finance and executive levels.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Information Systems or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, including at least 4 years focused on finance systems implementation or finance transformation.
