FinOps Engineer

We are seeking a FinOps Engineer with 4-6 years of experience in cloud cost optimization, financial operations, or cloud infrastructure management. The ideal candidate will have proficiency in various technologies and tools associated with financial operations in the cloud.

• Cloud Billing & APIs: Google Cloud Billing APIs, Big Query billing exports
• Cost Management Platforms: Google Cloud Cost Management, Cloudability, Apptio, Spot.io
• Automation Tools: Terraform, Python, Google Cloud Functions, Bash
• BI Platforms: Looker, Power BI, Google Data Studio, Tableau

Key Responsibilities:

• Cloud Cost Monitoring:

  • Implement and maintain dashboards and alerts using billing APIs and cost management tools.
  • Track committed use discounts (CUDs), sustained usage, and resource tagging for accurate chargebacks.

• Resource Optimization:

  • Identify underutilized resources and make recommendations for rightsizing or scheduling.
  • Analyze usage patterns to optimize compute, storage, and network spend.

• Automation Development:

  • Build automation for anomaly detection, budget enforcement, and cost forecasting.
  • Integrate scripts and tools with CI/CD pipelines for real-time FinOps insights.

• Reporting & Governance:

  • Develop BI reports and dashboards for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Support budget planning, forecasting, and monthly business reviews.

Certifications:

• Required: Google Cloud Associate (e.g., Associate Cloud Engineer)
• Preferred: FinOps Certified Practitioner or FinOps Certified Professional
• Additional Advantage: Certifications in data analysis (e.g., DA-100, Google Data Analyst, or Looker certifications)
