About the Role
This position is physically located in Kuwait in support of WEXMAC and requires residency and authorization to work in Kuwait. As a Firefighter, under the supervision of the Fire Officer, you will respond to multiple types of emergencies and operate as a firefighter. Your duties will include maintaining vehicles, equipment, tools, and protective clothing in serviceable condition, extinguishing fires, and taking precautions to prevent fire rekindling. You will also operate firefighting tools and equipment, exercise caution to avoid personal injury and property damage, and comply with strict health and safety standards. In addition, you will protect and preserve evidence at fire sites, conduct proficiency training, and maintain required certifications.

Responsibilities

- Participate as a positive team member and conform to the WEXMAC contract Performance Work Statement.
- Actively contribute to maintaining a safe workplace, where safety is the highest priority.
- Comply with all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) and Quality Assurance (QA) requirements and goals.
- Maintain documentation necessary to meet these requirements.
- Ensure emergency equipment is operational and ready according to NFPA or other industry standards.
- Maintain and clean personal protective equipment and collaborate with the team to clean equipment and facilities.
- Conduct fire inspections and pre-incident planning to ensure safety and proper documentation.
- Operate computerized digital fire alarm receiving and two-way radio communications equipment.
- Perform property control and logistical duties in support of fire department operations, including equipment accountability and maintenance scheduling.
- Serve as a team member on various fire apparatus and units.
- Enter burning or contaminated structures and areas to fight fires and/or perform rescues while wearing required personal protective equipment.
- Act as a crew member during various emergency events, including structural fires, aircraft fires, and hazardous materials responses, per departmental procedures.
- Support organizational metrics and accurately track all related data.
- Attend meetings in the absence of a supervisor when necessary.
- Communicate professionally, both orally and in writing, with team members and others to relay critical information.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Education/Certifications: One year of related experience may be substituted for one year of education if a degree is required.
- Must be able to pass the annual firefighter Occupational Health Exam and SCBA Fit Testing in accordance with NFPA 1582 and 1583.
- Must be available for recall.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience as a Firefighter on a DOD Installation preferred.
- Required to meet position certifications in accordance with DoD Manual 6055.06, including:
- Firefighter I/II
- HazMat Operations with Mission-Specific Competencies
- Personal Protective Equipment and Product Control
- First Aid Provider (FAP)
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Airport Firefighter
- D/O Pumper
- D/O Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting
- D/O Aerial (Preferred)
- D/O Mobile Water Supply
- Experience:
- Minimum one (1) year of experience as a Firefighter on a DOD Installation preferred.
- Skills:
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
- Ability to demonstrate firefighter knowledge and skills in a professional manner.
- Ability to effectively work with fellow employees and management personnel at all levels, including multinational staff and military officials.
- Strong ability to exercise professional discretion and good judgment.
- Exhibit strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Proficient computer skills, including MS-Word, MS-Excel, and MS-Outlook.
- Working Conditions:
- Duties will involve outdoor work with potential exposure to extreme weather conditions, including dust storms and high temperatures (up to 130 degrees).
- Potential exposure to chemical or biological agents may exist.
- Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in certain areas.
- Compliance with all Fire Department, company, and Army safety policies is mandatory.
- Ability to respond and work in all types of weather and under less than ideal conditions, including hazardous environments.
- Must be able to climb ladders to access upper levels of buildings or perform rescues.
- Physical Requirements:
- Must meet or exceed the physical requirements outlined in the current edition of NFPA 1582.
- Requires physical strength and the ability to perform strenuous tasks under dangerous conditions, often while wearing bulky protective gear.
- Must be available for recall and manage personnel issues off duty.
