About the Role
The Identity & Security team at the company plays a crucial role in building and operating the registration, login, and account security experience for over 300 million users. This includes various features like social login, OAuth and third-party authorization, multi-factor authentication, passkeys, and device management. We are currently developing an in-house AI facial recognition security product for KYC verification, which will replace our existing third-party solution. This product will serve hundreds of millions of users and significantly enhance account security and the identity verification experience.

We ship products across web, mobile mini programs, and in-app webviews, and support the company’s broader infrastructure with our authentication libraries and SDKs.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain login, registration, and account security applications across both web and mobile clients.
- Build an end-to-end in-house AI facial recognition security product, focusing on KYC verification, liveness detection, and face matching.
- Develop comprehensive authentication capabilities, including passkeys/FIDO2 (WebAuthn), authenticator apps, security keys, SMS and email verification, and biometric flows.
- Manage the multi-factor authentication orchestration layer, balancing security strength against user completion rates.
- Collaborate with the AI algorithm team to integrate facial recognition and AI-driven features into both frontend and backend products, ensuring high concurrency and low latency in online inference services.
- Maintain and evolve shared security components and logic libraries across multiple applications, ensuring backward compatibility.
- Develop the Node.js server-side layer with features such as server-side rendering, authentication guards, and session validation.
- Construct and enhance the BFF layer, aggregating upstream security services and translating error codes for frontend consumption.
- Implement platform-specific behaviors across web and mobile while maintaining a clean separation between shared and platform-specific code.
- Drive engineering quality through testing, instrumentation, and observability.
- Utilize funnel and event data to analyze and optimize login and verification flows based on evidence.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (product, design, risk, customer support, backend, iOS, and Android) to deliver sub-domains such as passkeys or facial recognition verification independently.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 3–8 years of frontend or full stack engineering experience, particularly with consumer-facing products.
- Strong web fundamentals, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and knowledge of browser rendering and performance optimization.
- Expertise in React 18+ and TypeScript, particularly in state management and complex form orchestration.
- Practical Node.js experience with server-side rendering, API aggregation, and debugging runtime issues.
- A clear approach to modeling complex flows, particularly in authentication and verification processes.
- Solid engineering practices, including unit and end-to-end testing, CI/CD, and handling breaking changes responsibly.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools like Cursor, Claude Code, or Copilot.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities for production issues and performance bottlenecks.
- Fluency in Mandarin is required to coordinate with international stakeholders; additional languages are a plus.
