Functional Test Engineer – API & Database Testing

Synechron is seeking a highly skilled Functional Test Engineer with over 6 years of experience in API testing and database validation. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of the software development life cycle (SDLC) and testing methodologies, along with ISTQB certification. The role involves designing, developing, and executing functional test cases for APIs and backend systems, performing database testing to validate data integrity, and collaborating with teams to ensure quality standards.

Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (On-site)

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and execute functional test cases for APIs and backend systems.
• Perform database testing to validate data integrity, consistency, and performance.
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and QA leads to understand requirements and translate them into test scenarios.
• Participate in test planning, test strategy development, and test case reviews.
• Conduct regression, integration, and system testing across various environments.
• Log, track, and manage defects using tools like JIRA, ensuring timely resolution.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of QA processes and best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 6+ years of experience in functional testing, with a focus on API and database testing.
• Strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, and Agile methodologies.
• Proficiency in tools such as Postman, SoapUI, SQL, and JIRA.
• Hands-on experience with test management tools and bug tracking systems.
• ISTQB Foundation Level certification (or higher) is mandatory.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
