GENERAL ACCOUNTANT

About the Role
This position is pivotal in maintaining the integrity of the general accounts in compliance with FCA regulations and standard accounting practices. The role will involve a variety of financial tasks to ensure accuracy, compliance, and reporting within the organization.

Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to:

• Control and maintain the integrity of the general accounts in compliance with the FCA and standard accounting practices.
• Check the activities of the Cashier as needed for checks and balances.
• Oversee treasury activities including accounting for money transfers, bank charges, and remittances to the company, ensuring the smooth operation of accounts payable and payroll checks.
• Manage bank deposits and coordinate all wire transfers and telex payments, ensuring the integrity of these activities before submission to the Chief General Accountant.
• Compute and submit required data related to the own scope for the annual budget to the Chief General Accountant.
• Monitor the implementation of tax regulations and procedures imposed by the government throughout the departments of the company, staying updated on new decrees related to tax declarations and computation.
• Conduct audits to ensure that internal control procedures are implemented effectively, recommending and following up on corrective measures as necessary.
• Filter payments and validate their accuracy to periodically complete required tax and VAT forms as mandated by tax authorities; relay these to the Accounting Manager for approval.
• Develop and update statutory and fiscal reports for the use of the government's tax controller and for monthly sales reporting.
• Perform monthly reconciliation of banks and affiliates, adjusting any irregularities found.
• Maintain a monthly trial balance audit file to ensure all balances are accurate.
• Ensure proper filing and follow-up on all subsidy applications and refunds.
