You will implement GIS plans at the program/project level, manage security measures, support enterprise portal installations, develop custom GIS applications, create and maintain digital maps, and provide technical guidance to junior staff. Your expertise will help define data structures for optimal performance, assist in client inquiries, and interface with various departments on work assignments.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Update geospatial databases to confirm data accuracy and integrity.
- Review spatial data for patterns and trends in collaboration with project teams.
- Implement GIS implementation plans at the program/project level.
- Support security measures and server site management.
- Assist in installation and configuration of enterprise portals.
- Develop custom GIS applications and provide technical guidance on GIS software.
- Create and maintain digital maps using GIS capabilities.
- Provide guidance to junior staff on GIS software and applications.
- Implement database design for efficient querying and analysis.
- Help define data types, relationships, constraints, and indexes.
- Assist the team with client queries and requests.
- Contribute to various GIS tasks under supervision.
- Provide input to teams working on the same project.
- Interface with other departments regarding work assignments.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's Degree in GIS, Geography, Geomatics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- 3-7 years of related work experience.
- Knowledge of GIS, CAD, BIM, and engineering software and hardware.
- Familiarity with GIS software/database packages and the ability to troubleshoot and assess capacity.
- Experience in automating tasks and performing complex spatial analyses using programming languages like Python or JavaScript.
- Ability to use spatial ETL tools (like FME) for data transformation.
- Advanced skills in model builders and customized tools for geospatial tasks.
- Strong understanding of geographical problem-solving practices.
- Familiarity with QA/QC practices and data management standards.
- Proficiency in creating scaled maps with cartographic designs.
- Skills in implementing topology rules for data integrity.
- Effective communication skills for both technical and non-technical discussions.
