We are hiring Golang engineers of all levels of seniority for various teams at Canonical. If you are an exceptional software engineer with a preference for Go, we would love to hear from you. After the initial interviews, we will match you with the best-fit product team based on your interests.
At Canonical, Golang is an essential language for our engineering teams, who build systems that deliver Ubuntu globally. We prioritize Golang for projects requiring performance and security and also work with Python, C, C++, and have started to invest in Rust for specific applications.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement well-tested and documented software in Go.
- Debug and fix issues encountered by users.
- Participate in engineering processes through code and architectural reviews.
- Collaborate on technical specifications with the community and colleagues.
- Seek improvements to engineering and operations practices.
- Occasionally deploy and operate services developed by the team.
- Contribute to product success through technical advocacy.
Requirements:
- Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university, or a compelling narrative about your alternative path.
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related STEM field.
- Proven drive and a track record of exceeding expectations.
- Well-organized, self-motivated, and able to meet schedules.
- Professional interpersonal skills when interacting with colleagues and the community.
- Experience designing and writing high-quality Golang software on Linux.
- Passion for Linux at the system level, with experience across different versions.
- Professional written and spoken English.
- Ability to travel twice a year for company events, up to two weeks each.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience with Ubuntu Linux and related technologies (Juju, LXD, Microk8s, Snapd, Ubuntu Core, Ubuntu Pro).
- Performance engineering and security experience.
