The LXD team is on a mission to develop next-generation private cloud infrastructure that seamlessly integrates KVM, Ceph, and SDN technologies, thus creating a robust data center scale cloud solution for edge and core enterprise deployments. We are currently seeking a Golang software engineer to contribute to the low-level Go codebase that operates between our REST API and the foundational C libraries managing containers and virtual machines.
We seek system-level developers adept in design and data management/modeling. Our coding tasks involve components that encompass the entire software stack, from low-level kernel functionalities to upper-level management API/CLI. The most effective engineers in our team are fluent across these layers and can foresee the implications of engineering decisions within complex distributed systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and document system-level Go code.
- Model data, design database schemas, and manage data storage in a dqlite (SQL) database.
- Maintain code quality via static analysis, unit, and system tests.
- Collaborate proactively with a distributed team to discuss ideas and devise effective solutions.
- Work from home with opportunities for global travel (2 to 4 weeks per year) for internal and external events.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in programming with Go and C.
- Knowledgeable in networking and storage technologies.
- Experience in at least two of the following: cloud computing, virtualization, containers, distributed systems, open-source community.
- Curiosity, flexibility, articulate communication skills, and accountability.
- Strong soft skills, with traits such as enterprise-mindedness, thoughtfulness, and self-motivation.
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field.
Work Conditions:
- This is a full-time remote position available in EMEA and the Americas.
