Responsibilities
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Supporting piping design activities: Preparing isometrics, layouts, equipment nozzle orientations, and updating 3D models under senior engineers' guidance.
- Developing technical competence: Learning key industry standards (ASME, API, ISO) and applying them to daily tasks.
- Improving software proficiency: Utilizing tools such as AutoCAD, E3D/PDMS, Caesar II, and Navisworks for project deliverables.
- Conducting basic piping calculations: Including wall thickness, branch reinforcement, and pressure drop with increasing accuracy.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams: Ensuring alignment of piping designs with project specifications.
- Participating in model reviews and site visits: Understanding constructability and installation constraints.
- Contributing to project documentation: Preparing material take-offs (MTOs), line lists, and technical queries.
- Demonstrating continuous learning: Completing training modules, attending workshops, and seeking mentorship feedback.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you should have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Piping Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited university.
- A strong understanding of engineering fundamentals including fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, material science, and stress concepts.
- Familiarity with industry codes and standards such as ASME B31.3, API, ASTM, and ISO (basic knowledge is acceptable).
- Basic proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, E3D/PDMS, Navisworks, with exposure to Caesar II or similar (training can be provided).
- Knowledge of piping components and systems, including valves, fittings, supports, and pressure equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (P&IDs, isometrics, GA drawings, and equipment layouts).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Good communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively.
- A willingness to learn and develop through on-the-job training and mentoring.
- Basic understanding of safety standards and engineering best practices.
