About the role
This position is a unique opportunity to build and run a cohesive finance function across multiple entities within the Group. Your objective will be to create a unified set of numbers, establish a common control environment, and streamline the planning cycle, significantly enhancing automation in a way that is uncommon for a Group of this size. You will be responsible for designing and building the operating model, reporting architecture, systems stack, and control framework. This is a hands-on role within a small, lean team, focused on driving efficiency and integration across diverse financial landscapes.

Responsibilities
Financial control and accounting
- Own the integrity of the Group's financial records across all entities and jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with IFRS and local statutory requirements.
- Define Group accounting policies, chart of accounts, intercompany framework, and close calendar, aiming for a close cycle of five working days.
- Manage consolidation and combination logic among entities with a documented and auditable approach.
- Oversee the external audit relationship, ensuring clean, on-time audits with no material adjustments.
- Ensure timely delivery of regulatory financial reporting to CySEC, the Central Bank of Cyprus, and the Swiss SRO, covering funds, capital adequacy, and liquidity.
- Manage transfer pricing, intra-group service agreements, cost allocation, and the related-party register, ensuring documentation withstands scrutiny from tax authorities and regulators.
FP&A and financial modelling
- Own the Group budget and rolling forecast for P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow by entity, with special focus on regulatory capital and liquidity.
- Build and own a comprehensive long-range Group financial model encompassing multiple entities and currencies. This model will serve as a reliable source of truth for board and investor discussions.
- Manage the creation of the management pack, detailing unit economics by product line, customer profitability, cost-to-serve, runway, and capital headroom by entity.
- Conduct monthly business reviews with commercial and product leadership, providing driver-based explanations, assigning named owners, and tracking actions.
- Support fundraising efforts and related-party transactions, including data room preparation, diligence responses, cap table management, and investor reporting.
Treasury oversight
- Develop and maintain the Group's treasury policy, risk appetite, and limits, ensuring accountability for Treasury execution.
- Oversee capital planning across entities, ensuring compliance with regulatory minimums, buffers, and dividend and intra-group funding capacities.
- Approve intra-group funding structures, ensuring they are commercially justified, well-documented, and defensible to regulators.
Control environment
- Establish and maintain delegation of authority, approval matrices, segregation of duties, four-eyes payment controls, and evidence retention practices.
- Ensure that reconciliations and attestations are conducted independently of payment execution processes.
- Develop internal audit coverage of finance processes and ensure remediation of findings on a tracked schedule.
AI, systems, and data
This role emphasizes the importance of automation in performing finance functions efficiently.
- Define and oversee the finance systems architecture, including ERP, general ledger, billing and revenue recognition, expenses and procurement systems, treasury rails, and reporting layers.
- Establish and enforce a finance data model that includes entity, currency, cost centre, product, and counterparty as the standardized format for upstream systems.
- Eliminate reliance on spreadsheets for closing processes, implementing automated intercompany eliminations, bank and blockchain reconciliations, and management reporting from a governed data warehouse.
- Deploy AI tools to enhance operations, such as for document extraction, anomaly detection in transactions, variance reporting, and workflow automation, while ensuring auditability and compliance with data handling policies.
- Actively engage in using AI tools to create models, queries, and scripts as opposed to merely overseeing their usage.
- Measure finance function output based on metrics such as closing days, manual journal counts, reconciliation exceptions, forecast accuracy, and cost of finance as a percentage of revenue.
Essential
- Strong technical accounting capabilities, including IFRS experience, group consolidation, and statutory reporting with a track record of achieving clean audits, without necessarily requiring formal qualifications.
- Proven senior finance leadership experience in regulated financial sectors, such as investment firms, payment institutions, electronic money institutions (EMIs), or banks, with direct familiarity in regulatory capital and reporting.
- Experience in building or significantly revamping a finance function, covering systems, processes, and controls—demonstrating a proactive approach rather than just managing inherited systems.
- Ability to personally create financial models that withstand institutional diligence.
- Strong, practical experience with AI technologies in a finance context, using large language models (LLMs) and agentic tools for daily tasks including coding, data queries, and process automation. Candidates with only theoretical knowledge of AI are unlikely to be a fit.
- Proficiency with data handling, including SQL or equivalent, and familiarity with data warehouse and business intelligence architecture.
Desirable
- Experience in digital asset accounting, valuation, and custody reconciliation.
- Background in institutional equity raise, mergers and acquisitions, or regulatory change of control.
- Knowledge of regulatory environments in Cyprus, Switzerland, or the UAE.
How you work
- Hands-on approach is essential; this is a building role for at least the first year, not merely supervisory.
- Systems-oriented mindset: identifying design flaws in manual processes rather than staffing insufficiencies.
- Evidence-driven decision-making: presenting solid numbers, underscored by sound assumptions and an awareness of confidence intervals.
Benefits
- A genuine opportunity to design and shape the finance function from the ground up, rather than inheriting existing systems.
- Direct involvement within a multi-entity, multi-jurisdiction institutional framework with oversight from regulatory bodies including CySEC, the Central Bank of Cyprus, Swiss VQF, and regulators in the UAE and UK.
- Close collaboration with the Group's fundraising efforts and a central role in board and investor discussions, ensuring your data remains the single source of truth.
- Competitive compensation package commensurate with a senior leadership role.
- Position based in Limassol, with relocation support and visa assistance available.
- Opportunity to work with a lean, senior team and operate within an AI-forward culture, granting the autonomy needed to build and automate function effectively.
