This 6-month maternity cover position provides commercially-focused guidance, advice, and assistance to the Digital Technology division concerning a broad range of legal and compliance matters, particularly in information technology, intellectual property, data, and e-commerce. Key Accountabilities
- Provide effective, reliable, and user-friendly support, advice, and assistance to the Digital Technology team on commercial contract transactions, with a specific focus on legal matters.
- Review, draft, and negotiate a broad range of legal documents, particularly those related to information technology, intellectual property, data, and e-commerce agreements/terms, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
- Make clear and commercially-focused recommendations regarding commercial contract issues, effectively escalating non-standard aspects in contractual agreements.
- Act as a liaison between commercial colleagues and the Group Director - Legal; provide effective reporting to the Group Legal Director, SVP Digital Technology, and the Digital Technology finance team.
- Serve as an ambassador for the company at all times, promoting and demonstrating positive behaviors in line with the company’s principles, values, and culture; ensure the highest safety standards in all activities, and adhere to the company's Code of Conduct and Ethics policies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- Law degree from an accredited university.
- Qualification to practice law from a recognized legal regulatory body.
- Minimum of 4 years post-qualification experience in an internationally recognized law firm and/or multinational company; consideration will be given to candidates with varying levels of PQE. Preferable experience working in the Middle East region.
Skills
- Strong enthusiasm for information technology, intellectual property, data, and e-commerce matters; experience in international trade and logistics is a plus.
- Demonstrated commercial awareness and understanding of business needs, including sensitivity to diverse international legal and cultural practices, with flexibility to work in different cultural environments.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to negotiate effectively on legal issues and transaction documentation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in English with strong drafting abilities.
- Preferably knowledgeable in English/common law and UAE law.
